I’m super pleased to announce that I won two 2017 Excellence in Journalism awards from the San Diego Press Club.
For the State of Scrum Report, I received second place in the PR, Public Information Officer and Trade Publications Annual Report category. The lengthy report was based on a membership survey for Scrum Alliance, the largest professional membership and certification organization in the Agile community. The report demonstrates that Scrum and Agile are part of a global trend that enables companies to innovate and remain competitive by embracing transparency and collaboration.
I wrote for Scrum Alliance for many years, and I really enjoyed learning about how companies can improve productivity among teams. You can find more of the content I wrote about Agile and other topics on my Articles page.
I also won second place in the Architecture and Design category for a magazine article called Gallery Grand. The article tells the story of a couple who designed their home specifically to display their extensive art collection. Gallery Grand ran in San Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles, an award-winning, monthly magazine published in San Diego since 1979. It has a distribution of 315,000 readers and is sold at prominent grocery chains, pharmacies, bookstores, and other desirable locations in San Diego County.
I wrote for the magazine for about a year. You can see more writing samples here under Home/Construction
